1969 Continental Mark III

I bought this car from a friend in Michigan in the fall of 1984.  It was the only car I bought as a beater.  It had the usual Mark III rust in all the usual Mark III places.  It had all of the widgets, and everything worked.  It went through snow with the greatest of ease.  It is also the second car I purchased for under $1,000.00 (the other was a parts car).  It was the first car I ever gave a name to: Titanic.

I originally intended to drive it through one winter and then dump it.  I actually kept the car for 3 1/2 years, and it moved me from Chicago to Maryland in 1985.  When I was getting the car ready for the trip to Maryland, I discovered that I had been driving it for a year without benefit of rear brakes.  It was big, it was rusty, but it always started.  I parked the car when the exhaust system started to disintegrate and I discovered that replacing the exhaust hardware was going to cost more than I paid for the car.  I sold it to another friend as a running parts car.

I like Mark IIIs.  At some point I would like to get another one.  See the wish list.
